| Police bust scam selling poor man’s food grains | | | SUMIT SHARMA Akhnoor, Sept 10: A day after a spurious cement racket endangering the public life in upcoming private and government buildings was busted; the Akhnoor Police today unearthed another racket of open swindling of poor man’s food grains. Akhnoor police have seized 45 bags of wheat meant for Below Poverty Line people and arrested three persons besides seizing the vehicle used for the purpose. Akhnoor Police led by SHO Gayan Chand Sharma under the supervision of SSP Jammu Manohar Singh and SP Rural Mohan Lal on specific information conducted raid in the retailer shop in the area and arrested two persons on spot while they were unloading the BPL ration. SP Rural Mohan Lal said, “We received information that CAPD ration meant for BPL people was unloading in retailer shop in the area and accordingly a raid was conducted and arrested the accused besides seized 47 bags of wheat and further on their disclosure we also arrested the dealer” After developing information police team conducted raid in the retailer shop of one Tarsam Lal son of Lal Chand and seized the wheat which was un loading from the vehicle bearing registration number JK12,2072.Police have also arrested the driver of the vehicle identified as Ashwani Kumar son of Munshi Ram resident of Baagala Chack, Akhnoor. During their questioning they told police that the ration was supplied to the dealer identified as Kartar Singh son of Bagat Singh resident of Naidiwala but he sold out the same to the retailer. The dealer is also a Numberdar of the area. On their disclosure police conducted raid in the house of the dealer and arrested him. A case under section 409,109 RPC and 3/7 Essential Commodity Act under FIR NO 171/09 has been registered against the accused.
