| Mehbooba has miraculous escape in car somersault | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 10: The Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti had a miraculous escape this evening when the vehicle she was traveling in skidded off the road somersault at least thrice along a ridge before coming to halt just on the outskirts of Jammu city on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Mehbooba was immediately rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital here accompanying security entourage. Police party from Jhahjar Kotli led by a Sub Divisional Police Officer and SHO also rushed to the spot and accompanied the fiery PDP leader to hospital.
Doctors attending on Mehbooba told reporters that she had a small injury on her upper lip and on one of front tooth. Doctors also reported some nocturnal bleeding but no serious injury was seen. After a 20 minute examination and first aide, she was discharged from hospital and taken to her official residence at Ved Mandir Enclave.
Describing it as providential escape, the eye witnesses and member of Mehbooba’s entourage said that the car she was traveling in lost its rear wheel while in full speed and before drive could apply brakes, the car rolled down taking at least three turns into a gorge near the Peer Baba shrine off Manda Hills. Mehbooba was on way to Jammu from Doda where she addresses a series of party meetings. There were four others, including driver, in the car Mehbooba was traveling. All of them were reported safe by the Police and doctors.
SSP Jammu Manohar Singh, who also rushed to the hospital, told reporters that a Police party from Jammu and Jhajhar Kotli had immediately rushed to the accident spot to shift the PDP leader to hospital.
