| 2-day Nurba Festival commences | | | Early Times Report Leh, Sept 11- As a part of Ladakh Festival- 2009 a two day Nubra Festival was inaugurated by Executive Councillor, Health Tsering Angchuk at Hundar Nubra today . A large number of people including foreign and domestic tourists witnessed the festival. In his inaugural speech, Tserign Angchuk said Hill Council is giving its utmost attention in making the festival more attractive and putting it at world’s tourist map. He stressed the people to maintain age old rich cultural heritage for posterity. He also laid stress on preserving the unique species of Double Humped Camel. Colorful cultural programs including Shundol, Mantok Stanmo, Archery and camel safari are the main attraction of the two day Nubra festival. In the meantime the Ladakh Festival continued on the 10th day today. “Khatok Chhenmo” - the foremost musical show of the Leh Royal Palace was presented yesterday. The main feature of Khatok Chhenmo ceremony was the traditions of Ladakh’s kingdom and its ceremonial custom. A large number of foreign tourists and selective audiences from Leh witnessed the show. Mask Dance was performed at Chowkhang Vihara by the monks of Takthog monastery today.
