| Mangat Ram announces trust in memory of Sant Singh Tegh | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 11- To remember and pay homage to veteran freedom fighter Sardar Sant Singh Tegh on his 2nd death anniversary, Sher-e-Pahaar Sardar Sant Singh Tegh Memorial Society is organizing a memorial ceremony on September 16 at Gurudwara Singh Sabha Guru Nank Nagar. Decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of prominent persons from all walks of life here today. Announcing this at a press conference here today, Chairman of the Society and former Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma said a function will be organized to pay homage to Sardar Sant Singh Tegh who lived through the 20th century in our Country. While remembering Tegh, Sharma said he was a great human being of unique qualities who had always valued public service above all luxuries and glamour of life. His work for the refugees of 1947 is exemplary and historical. ‘Tegh was a very zealous freedom fighter who went to jails many times at many places within India for carrying activities against the British Raj and at times abetting Inqualabi leaders, he was imprisoned in Kabul where he had gone helping some Inqualabi freedom fighter to escape from British Police, he mentioned. Chairman said that Sant Singh Tegh worked hand in hand with all great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Pt Jawaher Lal Nehru, Jai Prakesh Narayan, Master Tara Singh, Baba Kharak Singh, Pt Prem Nath Dogra, Atal Bihari Bajpayee, Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah, Bakshi Ghulam Mohammed and Moulana Mohammed Masoodi. To make the function a memorable one a committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Pandit Mangat Ram Sharma. The other members incorporated in the committee include Padam Bhushan Balraj Puri Veteran Journalist, Dr Nirmal Singh, Gurmukh Singh, Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President National Conference, Dharam Vir Batra, Chairman ASCOM, Prof. Ayub Sheikh Secretary (Retd) J&K Board of Education, Mohinder Singh J&K State President SAD (Badal), S Basant Singh Khalsa, Senior Akali Leader, Kashmir, S Charanjit Singh Khalsa, State Secretary BJP, Jagjeet Singh Sudan, SE (Retd.) and S Gurpartap Singh Tegh.
