| Pradeep Gupta reviews progress | | Lakhanpur toll plaza nearing completion | | Early Times Report Jammu: To review the progress of execution of new Toll Plaza at Lakhanpur and Nagri, the Excise Commissioner, Pradeep Gupta convened a meeting of senior officers here today. The Toll Plaza at Lakhanpur which is to be executed in two phases is being constructed at the cost of Rs 32.20 crore. The first phase of the contract has been allotted to JKPCC at a cost of Rs 23.06 crore which include Excise and Commercial Taxes complex housing Recreational Centre for visiting tourist, dhabas, toilet block, shelters for drivers, animal husbandry complex and a parking yard for 240 vehicles. Gupta informed that the new Toll Plaza at Lakhanpur on completion will go a long way in decongesting the present traffic conditions experienced at the Toll Post. An amount of Rs 15 crore has already been released for the project against which about Rs 11.35 crore has been utilized by JKPCC till August end. Gupta while reviewing work on various components of project in detail exhorted upon the executing agency to complete the project by the targeted date of 31st December, 2009. He directed the PWD (R&B) department to immediately initiate action for tendering for the installation of weigh bridges at new Toll Plaza as instructed by Chief Minister in a recent Board meeting. The new Toll Plaza at Nagri is coming up at a cost of Rs 8.85 crore. The project is allotted to PWD (R&B) department which has spent the entire amount of Rs 2.97 crore allocated to the department for execution of the project. While promising further release of the funds by the government, Gupta exhorted upon the executing agency to complete the project on fast track basis. Among others Superintending Engineer, PWD (R&B), Jammu/ Kathua, Tahseen Mustafa, General Manager, JKPCC, sayed Nayeem, all Dy. Excise Commissioners and other concerned engineers of PWD (R&B) and JKPCC attended the meeting.
