Srinagar, September 11: - A meeting of General Purpose Committee (GPC) was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Chairman, Legislative Council, S. Arvinder Singh Micky and discussed threadbare various issues including installation of Air Conditioners and fixing steel grills to the windows in the Council complex.
The meeting was attended by the Legislators Mr. B.R. Kundal, Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Taing, Mr. Murtaza Ahmed Khan and Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil, Principal Secretary, Law Mr. A.H. Kochak, Director Estates, Mr. Khurshid Ahmed, Managing Director, JKPCC and other senior officers of Law, Estates, JKPCC and Council Secretariat.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Chairman directed the concerned agencies to complete all incomplete works in the Council complex immediately. He said the matter regarding construction of new council hall in the Assembly premises will be taken up with the Government.
Micky said that the Council has decided to institute best Legislator award on the pattern of Assembly, adding the award will be conferred to the outstanding legislator this year also.
The committee asked the JKPCC authorities to install Air-conditioner facilities to offices of Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Secretary of the Legislative Council immediately. The committee also directed them to fix steel grills to the windows in the ground floor of the complex.
The committee was informed that the Air-conditioners of these offices would be installed within a week. With regard to partition of lobby, the committee was informed that the said work would be completed within a month
