Srinagar, September 11: The Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. Kuleep Khoda, today sanctioned scholarships in favour of 120 wards of serving deceased personnel of J&K Police out of Central Police Welfare Fund for the academic session 2008-2009.
Giving details, the DGP said that over Rs. 0. 57 lacs have been sanctioned in favour of 68 wards of serving personnel of J&K Police who have secured distinction i.e. 75 per cent and above marks in the annual examinations of 8th and 9th classes held during the academic session 2008.
Besides Rs.1. 57 lacs have been sanctioned out of Central Police Welfare Fund in favour of 52 wards of those police personnel who laid down their lives while fighting militancy in the state. These wards are studying in classes from L.K.G to College level in different educational institutes across the State.
The DGP said that Police Welfare Fund has been created for promoting the quality education among the wards of serving/deceased police personnel. He said that merit scholarships are being provided annually to these wards to encourage them and boost their talent for better career prospects so that other students get inspired.
The scholarships sanctioned among the wards who have secured distinction in 8th and 9th classes are Suhaib Nazir, Sakshi, Maheshwar Singh, Tarun Sharma, Nikhil Pandita, Rupal Koul, Kreetika Kangotra, Palvi Chowhan, Nandeep Koushal, Nayaz Ahmad, Sania Bhat, Danishta Aziz, Suman Khushboo, Sahila Naz, Ajay Sharma, Mona Slathia, Neha Sharma, Suraj Pandita, Aabid Rasool, Sanam Sajjad, Vishav Jeet Bandral, Surbhi Sharma, Vishal Bhat, Hadi Jan, Sakshi Pandita, Jaswinder Kour, Bharti Angural, Akshay Bhat, Akshi Koul, Deviya Sagar, Sahil Singh, Zaid Ahmad Latoo, Amandeep Singh, Enamika Rani, Arjun Kumar, Sushant Bhau, Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Rishav Sharma, Rafeel Saleem, Baby Pallavi, Wasim Ahmad, Neha Attri, Rajeshwar Singh, Harvinder Sambyal, Firdous Kouser, Akshay Parihar, Vishali Devi, Sheikh Faisal Gull, Abhishek Kumar, Irfan Naseer, Mohammad Wasit Manhas, Justina Victor, Rupali Raina, Syed Waqar Bukhari, Simran Jeet Singh, Ovais Bashir, Pankaj Mathur, Rabia Bilal, Asia Nazir, Ubair Aijaz Sultanpuri, Shikha Jamwal.
