Kupwara gets Rs 66.89 Cr plan outlay

SRINAGAR, SEPT 11: The Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah Friday announced Kissan Welfare Advisory Board to ensure integrated and scientific development of agriculture and horticulture in the State. “The Board will also look after the transfer of technology from lab to land and its implementation to give boost to the agriculture produce”, he added.
Omar was chairing the District Development Board meeting Kupwara at SKICC here. He approved Rs. 66.89 crore Annual District Development Plan for 2009-10 for the district. The approval is subject to the increase on account of committed revenue expenditure.
The Chief Minister sanctioned Rs. 3.57 crore for various works to be executed during the current fiscal. He also sanctioned Rs. 5 crore from the State’s Sector for the construction, upgradation and improvement of roads in the district. An amount of Rs. 33.70 lakh was approved by the Chief Minister for Karnah road project, Rs. 50 lakh for Chakari-Amroh road, Rs. 40 lakhs for the development of sports facilities and Rs. 46.15 lakh for the self-employment programme. Mr. Omar also sanctioned Rs. 50 lakh for the construction of four community centers in Langate. He approved establishment of three transformer repairing workshop, one each for North, South and Central Kashmir. The workshop in North Kashmir will be located in Kupwara, he said. He also sanctioned special power division for Langate constituency.
The Chief Minister said that Kupwara district will also be getting Rs. 9.92 crore under Border Area Development Programme and Rs. 7.50 crore under RSV. He said the district will get a handsome amount under the newly launched Backward Region Grant Fund scheme.
Omar said that he has taken up the issue of releasing Rs. 314 crore under the centrally sponsored Accelerated Rural Power Development Programme to help improvement in the power distribution and transmission system adding that Kupwara district will get substantial benefit under this programme.
Reiterating his direction to the officers to be on heels visiting the fields to monitor the status of each and every scheme both physically and financially, the Chief Minister asked heads of the departments to get regular tour dairies from the field officers. He also directed the Ministers to monitor the tour dairies of the officers so that the first hand information about the execution of works will be available regularly.
Omar directed for gearing up all government functionaries and completing preparedness of launching works on fast track by middle of October. “While the Chairman District Development Board will take the review meetings regularly, I will review the progress of each district personally from January next”, he said laying stress on proper and judicious utilization of money.
