Srinagar Sep 11: Striking tough on misappropriations and use of sub-standard material in projects, the government today placed under suspension an Executive Engineer, an Assistant Executive Engineer and two Junior Engineers of the Roads and Buildings Department.
According to an official spokesman, acting upon the complaints received from the people of Rajbagh area, the Minister for R&B, GM Saroori accompanied by Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Nasir Aslam Wani today visited Rajbagh where macadamization work has been done but found the work executed below the set specified standard. Besides calling explanation from Superintending Engineer for negligence, the Minister ordered immediate suspension of concerned Executive Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineer and two Junior Engineers.
The Minister ordered inquiry into the matter and announced that a committee of experts would be constituted to check the standard of the macadamization work executed in other parts of the city and warned that guilty engineers would have to face the same music.
The Minister asked concerned engineer to stop the payment of the contractors till the enquiry is completed. .
“Government would not compromise on quality of work and set specifications”, Mr Saroori asserted and said that each work would be got checked by a team of experts.
He directed the Chief Engineer to monitor all the works being executed under R&B sector and ensure that qualitative material is used at all stages of the works.
