All major roads being redesigned : Madan

RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 12 - Member Parliament, Mr Madan Lal Sharma has said that the government is re-designing all the major roads in Jammu and Kashmir on the modern lines to ensure smooth traffic flow and better fuel efficiency. Mr Sharma said this after laying foundation stone of two link roads at Katarmal, Kanyalgali and Sora- Dodaj in presence of Minister of State for Forest, Environment, Employment, Ecology, Transport Labour and Employment, Consumer Affairs & public Distribution Department Mr. Shabir Ahmed Khan in Manjakote block of Rajouri district today.

Unfolding the modality worked out for up keeping and maintaining of the roads which are life line of a nation and also reflects its development profile Sharma said link road also provide income generation of the people. He said that the stress is being laid to ensure construction of quality work on new roads especially in the hilly terrain of border districts of the state. He said that the existing roads are also being upgraded for the safety of commuters.

Sharma also laid foundation stone of two link roads namely Katarmal and Kanyalgali which will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs.679.41 Lakh which include Rs. 246.31lakhGambhir Brahmna to Katarmal link road measuring 4.00 km and Kakora to Kanyalgali at an estimated cost of Rs. 433.10 lakh. Sharma was informed that both the roads would be completed within a period of one year. With the completion of these link roads as many as 3, 881 souls of Four villages viz Katarmal and Chapperdhara, Kanyalgali and Kakora would be benefited.
Meantime, Khan who is currently on tour of Rajouri district accompanied by the Member Parliament Shri Madan Lal Sharma paid obeisance at Baba Ghulam Shah Badsha at Shahdara Sharief and prayed for the peace and prosperity of the state.

Enroute to Shahdara sharief Sharma inaugurated link road from Sora Bridge to Khablan which has an estimated cost of Rs. 4.88 crore being constructed under PMGSY. Started in April this year after completion as many as 2,486 souls will take benefit of road communication.

Earlier, today Member Parliament inaugurated Photo therapic unit and baby warmer unit donated by Rotary Club Rajouri to the district hospital Rajouri.

District Development commissioner, Rajouri S.Jaipal Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner S. Robin Singh Mehta and members to the club were also present on the occasion.

Assistant Convener of Rotary Club, Mr Mehta Deep Singh who represented the district spoke on the role of rotary club being extended toward the society and that in contest of health care of child which is of foremost importance today. He also announced that all efforts will be made in setting up of Eye hospital in Rajouri by active participation of rotary club Rajouri.

Sharma directed the health authorities that the NEO NATAL equipment donated by the Rotary club should be put in use for the purpose the unit was donated by the club.
