| Slathia launches development works in Samba | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, SEPTEMBER 12 -Minister for Industries and Commerce, Mr S S Slathia has said that development of the state on modern lines is the priority of the coalition government adding that growth of state’s rural belts will be incorporated as an important provision in state’s development policy so that targets set under various schemes are achieved in a time bound manners.
The Minister said this after inaugurating the blacktopping work of Vijaypur Gurha Slathia road constructed by PWD (R&B) Samba at a cost of Rs.1.50 crore here today.
Mr Slathia said that socio economic upliftment of weaker section of the state is priority area of the government and announced that government has decided to develop the Utterbehani and Purmandal as tourist places. He said that Vijaypur constituency has great tourism potential and full top its potential which needs to be tapped.
The Minister said focused attention is being given on promoting heritage and pilgrimage tourism in the state. He said that government would develop many tourists support in Jammu division for local as well as outside tourists.
Describing tourism sector another potential area for state’s economic growth, Mr Slathia said that in view of the ever increasing rush of pilgrims to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine as well as other pilgrimages, number of tourists circuits and tourism development authorities have been constituted to divert them t the unexplored tourism spots of Jammu division.
The Minister said that improvement and upgradation of basic amenities like road, communication, health care, education, PHE and power supply in all village are getting special attention of the government. He said that next five and half year have been dedicated to revolutionize development scenario of the state and bring healthy change in the condition of the rural population.
Mr Slathia said that creation of necessary infrastructure for crucial sectors of road network in every village is significant component of rural development drive launched across the state. He said road connectivity every village with a population of 500 will be provided under PMGSY.
He said that centre has provided a handsome budget of Rs.6700 crore for the development of the state. He said that present government headed by the Chief Minister Mr Omar Abdullah is committed for the all-round development of all the three region of the state. He said that the government has hiked the wages of daily wages upto Rs.2100 to Rs.3300 and under NREGA for Rs.70 to 110 per day.
