| Deferment of ban on inter district recruitment hailed | | | Early Times Report Jammu Sep 12: State President All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations R.K. Kalsotra said that confederation has been raising a number of issues, detrimental to' the interests of SC/ST/OBC communities with the state Governments through various memoranda and the press. All the issues are still pending except deferment of the bill banning inter-district recruitment for the time being, he said. Listing main demands lying pending he highlighted that removal of marks criteria for scholarships to SC/ST/OBC students, maintenance of roster point gained seniority at every level especially the senior most SC/ST Superintending Engineers in PDD and PWD, restoration of 8% and 10% reservation for SC and ST respectively in MDIMS courses, restoration of 8% and 10% reservation for SC and ST respectively in direct recruitment of 94 Assistant Directors, Statistics, implementation of Supreme Court's Judgment regarding 27 % reservation to OBC's of the state and citizenship rights to the West Pakistani Refugees who were retained by Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah the then Prime Minister of the state when Refugees were about to move outside the state post -partition. Confederation expressed its thanks to all the legislators who supported the issue particularly Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, Yash Pal Kundal, Ashok Khajuria, Harshdev Singh, Prof. Garu Ram, Ashwani Sharma, Ch. Zulfikar, Balwant Singh Mankotia, Durga Dass and Bharat Bhushan who supported the issue in and outside the Assembly. Raman Bhalla and Sham Lal Sharma, Cabinet Ministers who forcefully opposed the bill in the Assembly and were instrumental in its deferment were lauded for their contribution besides Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma, Sr. 'Vice President JKPCC, for his strong support.
