| Reveal details of PMRP funds: BJP to Govt | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept12- Ridiculing the claims of development and prosperity, the State BJP has questioned the capability of previous dispensation of Congress and PDP which failed to spend the central package and sought explanation from J&K government regarding the details of spending of rupees 30,000 crores provided by the centre under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan. Addressing media persons here on Saturday, BJP State President Ashok Khajuria said that the people of the state have every right to know as to why most of the funds under this package got lapsed and who are responsible for it. He said failure on part of the government to utilize Five-Year PM’s Reconstruction Plan should leave no one in any doubt that the slogan of development and Khushaal Kashmir were just hollow and the government was never serious towards the development and welfare of the masses across the state, particularly Jammu region. Stating that this also is a reflection on the mis-governance of the former coalition of Congress and PDP, who led the government for different periods in last five and half years, Khajuria also demanded that the ministers and bureaucrats who had been handling the matters regarding the execution of these funds should also be held accountable for their criminal role. Khajuria referred to the recent discussions of the State Assembly, where the issue of Central Package was taken up and it was told to the Assembly that only a paltry amount of rupees 6,000 crores has been spent in the last five years. He demanded a White Paper on this by the present dispensation of NC and Congress headed by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and also the details as to the punitive action that government is proposing to take against those responsible for it. Referring to the performance of the present government , Ashok Khajuria said that the situation in Jammu division is alarming so far as development of different areas are concerned. Alleging that the role of ministers hailing from Jammu is not worthwhile in fighting the discriminatory tendencies of Kashmir-centric and Kashmir-dominated leadership, Khajuria pointed out to several instances in this regard. He said rupees 552 crores for improvement of water supply in Greater Jammu lapsed while rupees 78 crores earmarked for Srinagar Airport were spent fully. Not only this, full amount of rupees 120 crores sanctioned for conservation of Dal lake has been spent and on the other hand only rupees 39 lakh were spent on Mansar Lake despite the fact that rupees 6.91 crores were earmarked for it, he added. Reiterating his party’s stand for early establishment of Central University in Jammu region, Khajuria said that the government is deliberately creating confusion and chaos among the general public. BJP State General Secretary Shamsher Singh Manhas and State spokesperson Ramesh Arora were also present in the press conference.
