| Cancer patients to get treatment in Jammu, says Dr. Gupta | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept12- It is not far now when Jammuites need not to travel far and wide for seeking cancer treatment, it is well possible in Jammu as well said Dr Rajeev Gupta, MD (medicine)DNB (Medical oncology). Briefing media persons here today Dr Gupta said that Indian women are the most victim of breast and cervical cancer caused due to poor hygiene conditions, a lack of proper education and multiple sexual partners adding that sexually active women can get this disease , but it is most common in the women who have crossed their 40’s. According to Dr Gupta 80-85% of the patients report in the last stages of cancer where treatment results are not very encouraging and palliation remains the option .He advised that after the age of 30, every women should undergo a pap-smear test once every three years to detect cervical cancer early .According to a survey death rate due to Cancer has declined by 70% because of awareness of the masses for periodic routine check up by educating the people at large to help timely diagnoses and proper treatment . Further Dr Gupta said that “our Endeavor would be to educate and screen the general population of Jammu for cancer and for that we will be holding cancer screening program for the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the coming months as well as cancer awareness lecture in the teaching institute and amongst the medical fraternity .
