Parent-Teacher meet at GCW Parade

Jammu , Sept 12- The Department of Computer sciences, GCW Parade organized a parent- teacher meet here today which was among others attended by Dr. Savitri Sharma, Principal of the college, Prof. Parveen Singh, HOD Computer Sciences, BCA committee members, members of IQAC and the parents of students. The purpose of the meet was to facilitate parental participation so that they can keep track of their ward’s academic growth. The parent-teacher interaction helps to communicate to parents the areas their children are excelling and lacking and give specific ideas of how to improve upon their child’s performance.
Surabhi Koul, a student of final year compared the event. A presentation on achievements of the BCA Department was also shown to the parents, which was followed by the interaction between staff and the parents.
The parent- teacher interaction is a unique opportunity to gain a fresh perspective on child’s program in college and to share parental insights with teacher. The parents used this limited time to their best advantage. They inquired of their ward’s interaction with peers and what the teachers perceive of their ward’s strengths and weaknesses.
The parents gave some suggestions and the faculty assured them that they will do their level best to implement the suggestions. The alumni with their parents were also invited for the meet.
The students who got placements in MNC’s and those who got positions in their academics were honoured by the BCA Department.
Principal of the college Dr. Savitri Sharma thanked the parents who had come for the meet and congratulated the faculty of BCA Department for their efforts to encourage parental involvement. She also made a point that such meets should be organized more frequently as they help in cultivating the partnership between parents and the teachers which ultimately benefits the students.
