| JDA confirms ET report | | Allotment of bus stand premises to private party | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 12: Sitting over facts for two days after Congress Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma accused the Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand of patronizing shady deals in the departments under his charge, the Jammu Development Authority, in its official clarification, today almost confirmed a report carried in the Early Times. Senior Congress leader and Member Parliament from Jammu-Poonch constituency Madan Lal Sharma had told Early Times that part of premises of the General Bus Stand in Jammu, owned and managed by Jammu Development Authority, had been sold to the private parties. Reacting to the report in this newspaper the Vice Chairman, Jammu Development Authority (JDA) admitted that some allotments were made at the General Bus Stand, Jammu by the outgoing Vice-Chairman, Jammu Development Authority on his transfer. It may be mentioned here that Madan Lal alleged corruption in the Housing and Urban Development Department and its agencies like Jammu Development Authority. In his clarification the present Vice Chairman of JDA has just shifted blame on his predecessor who was transferred just a month ago. The JDA Vice Chairman, in his clarification says, on knowing this (allotment of bus stand premises to private party), the matter was brought in the notice of Deputy Chief Minister who is also Chairman, Jammu Development Authority who advised to cancel the allotments. Accordingly, the illegal allotments were cancelled/withdrawn and the shops were locked. The necessary FIR was also lodged on August 18th at Police Station General Bus stand Jammu against one of the alleged allottee who broke open the lock of the shop in the intervening night of 17th/18th of August 2009. The case is also being vigorously contested in the Courts to restore the property of Jammu Development Authority. The Administrator General Bus Stand also stands shifted from the Bus Stand”.
