| Nirvana Academy conducts first audition test | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Sept 13- Nirvana Academy, a society for promotion of music and culture conducted its first audition of searching talent from remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir. In its persistent endeavour to search musical talent especially in remote and rural areas the Academy conducted auditions for classical and light instrumental, classical, folk and light singing categories.
The program named Pandit Uma Dutt Sangeet Mahootsav being organized in memory of Pandit Uma Dutt Sharma, a great musician and guru and father of Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma Santoor Maestro, drew tremendous response from the music lovers and young musicians, besides general public. First audition for Pandit Uma Dutt Sangeet Mahootsav was conducted at Sai Sangeet Music Institute, Adarsh colony Udhampur which got tremendous response. Thirty two participants took part in the audition, some of them were from near by villages and rural area like Ramnagar, Jandra, Cheenani
President of the Society Hitesh Badyal expressed his satisfaction over the enthusiasm and promise shown by the young musicians and reiterated that platform shall be provided to the budding talent in the form of Pandit Uma Dutt Sangeet Mahootsav. He added that 2nd audition in Udhampur shall be on held on September 20 at Sai Sangeet Music Institute, Udhampur. Those selected in the first audition included Utkarsh Sharma (vocalist), Shubam Sharma (Instrumentalist), Meenu (vocalist), Tusshar (Instrumentalist), Aditya (Harmonium) and Virender (flute).
Final for Pandit Uma Dutt Sangeet Mahootsav shall held at Abhinav Theater on October 4 , 2009.
