| KDCC formed for speedy development of Katra town | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 13- To provide best possible infrastructural facilities to pilgrims at Katra, the base camp for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, various social and political origination joined hands under the banner of Katra Development Centric Committee/Forum (KDCC) MLA Reasi Baldev Raj Sharma while talking to news men here today said that for the development of Katra, several social and political organizations joined hands and framed a committee to press the government and Katra Development Authority for ensuring balanced development of the holy town. Highlighting the problems, Sharma said that the main issue is to upgrade existing bus stand and congestion and there is desire need to take measures to get rid from these problems. For creating adequate infrastructure to develop Katra town as a model town, the committee was of the considered opinion that the remodeling of the bus stand needs to be done on war footing’, he stated. He alleged that Traffic department right from Domail to Katra was indulging in grabbing money from pilgrims. ‘The Traffic department is much concerned of minting money instead of maintaining proper traffic in Katra’, he alleged further. The president of the KDCC Sher Singh and other members were also present in the press conference. He said “Katra has historic importance as lakhs of pilgrims from entire country are visiting the holy Shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi every years but it’s matter of concern that it had been ignored since 1980 by the successive state governments”. ‘ It was SMVDSB which brought development till date’, he added. Hr Appreciating the Government initiative to crate commensurate development of Katra Town he called for making Katra model town to showcase Jammu and Kashmir. He also welcomed sanctioning of Rs 47 crores for development of Katra and Rs 14 crores for Reasi. |
