| Pensioners to hold protest rally on Oct 5 | | ‘Demand release of DA, 6th Pay commission arrears’ | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 13- In view of the State Government’s indifferent attitude towards the pensioners of the State, All J&K State Pensioners Association announced to hold protest rally October 5, 2009 at Parade Ground, Jammu. Announcing this at a press conference today, Mukand Lal Sharma, president of the association flayed the state government’s adamant attitude towards pensioners regarding release of 6th pay commission arrears and release of pending claim of 7% DA of July, 2008 to the state pensioners. He alleged that the government has adopted a double yard stick while releasing arrears of DA of July, 2008 in favour of employees and ignoring pensioners for the same. The Pensioners demanded that all benefits be given to the retired pensioners of J&K State which have been given to the Central Government pensioners, implementation of 6th pay commission from Jan 01, 2006 in favour of pensioners, release of arrears in one installment, the interest charged by the Government on commuted amount of Pensioners be done away with and the period of recovery of commuted pension be reduced from 15 years to 12 years, release of 7% DA installment due from Jan 2009 arrears in One installment, enhancement of Medical Allowance to Rs,1000 per month from Rs 300. The association has said that a similar rally will also be organized in Srinagar Among others present at the press conference were Madan Lal Abrol, Kapil Dev Sharma, Suj Singh Manhas, Krishan Chalgotra, Avtar Singh and Krishan Dutt Sharma
