CUAS holds protest demonstration across Jammu region
‘Flays state government’s cryptic silence’, threatens to intensify stir

Jammu, Sept14- Activists of Central University Andolan Samiti (CUAS) on Monday organized two hour long protest demonstrations at more than two dozen places across Jammu region demanding setting up of Central University in Jammu province.
Led by representatives of Andolan Samiti large number of college going students joined the protests and shouted slogans against the state government.
At all the places the student community questioned intentions of the state government over the delay caused in starting work on the Central University despite getting a clearance from the central government.
The student groups in Kathua, Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Doda and Kishtwar also organized token protests to mount pressure on the state government to hasten the process of starting work on the Central University.
Happy with the feedback received from various places, Convenor CUAS(Retd) Justice Paviter Singh expressed deep gratitude for all those people who participated in the protest demonstrations and extended word of thanks to students of Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri and Poonch for supporting the agitation over Central University in Jammu region.
In Jammu, Samiti activists including CVUAS convenor Paviter Singh, SAYSS convenor Brig (Retd) Suchet Singh, BJP State President and MLA Ashok Khajuria and others assembled outside Press Club and staged two hour protest in order to show their resentment against the delaying tactics and silent attitude of State government over Central University issue.
Speaking on the occasion, Paviter Singh amidst slogans ‘Jan Bhi Denge, Khoon Bhi Denge, Central University Lekar Rahage’, ‘Hamara Haq Hami Do’, ‘Laker Rahege Apna Haq’, said,“We have given enough time to State Government over Central University issue but it is unfortunate that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is still unmoved.”
Vowing to intensify struggle for CU, Singh said, ‘We will take the Central University as it is for Jammu’. “We are not against the Central University in Kashmir but the matter of fact is that why Government is not giving the things which has been sanctioned for Jammu”, Singh added.
“As the State Government particularly Chief Minister has adopted silence over the Central University issue, we have decided to go more vigorous over this matter thus held protest dharnas, rallies at district headquarters today”, he mentioned.
“It is matter of happiness that leaders from Congress, BJP, PDP and other political outfits have extended their support to the CUAS and stand united on establishment of Central University in Jammu”, he mentioned and hailed the leaders for supporting the movement.
Calling upon the leadership of Jammu region to support the present agitation, he said agitation will continue till written commitment is not given.
BJP State president Ashok Khajuria said, “It is matter of grave concern that Jammu and Ladakh are subjected to gross discrimination from 62 years by the successive state governments who betrayed the Jammu and Ladakh to appease Kashmiris”.
Khajuria charged the State Government for deliberately delaying the proposal of Central University just to appease Kashmir. He called upon the Jammuites to unite for getting rights and end the Kashmiri dominancy on Jammu.
He mentioned that Prime Minister in Jammu had promised two reputed institution in J&K and it was announced by him that Central University will be established in Jammu and IIM in Kashmir but it is unfortunate that Government deliberating sabotaged the CU proposal of Jammu by delaying it.
“If vigorous agitation is need we will are ready to launch it as it is mater of right of Jammu”, he announced and assured its party’s full support to CUAS.
