| Accident ex-gratia disparity blatant discrimination: Bhagat | | | Early Times Report Jammu Sept 14 Former MLA and BJP State General Secretary Bali Bhagat in his statement has pointed out official disparity in the release of ex gratia on regional basis and has described it as cruelty and murder of humanity by the state coalition government. Ex MLA Bali Bhagat stated that financial assistance rendered by the coalition government in one accident in Jammu region is Rs. 25000 per victim while it is eight time high in Kashmir region i.e. Rs. 2 lac per victim. BJP leader lamented that there is not a standard scale for paying financial assistance to families of unfortunate victims who die in different road accidents in the state. He said that Speaker Legislative Assembly Akbar Lone has recently paid Rs. 2 lakh cash on spot as financial assistance to the bereaved family of a young unfortunate girl Insha Javed D/o Javed Ahmed Ganai of Sarai Dangerpora, Sumbal in district Bandipora, who lost her life in a road accident last week. However he regretted that the State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah directed the administration to pay Rs. 25000 cash to the families of those killed and Rs. 5000 each for those injured who were the victim a road accident on September, 8 at Assar in Doda district which claimed 25 lives and atleast 25 others injured seriously. The BJP leader demanded that Rs. 2 lac be granted in favour of each family of killed Assar accident victims forthwith. He also demanded that the old Ramgarh-Assar road of Doda district be restored on war footing basis and for conducting high level inquiry into the delay in erecting 20 kms steel girder on Batote to Kishtwar road.
