| Make a clear policy for availability of fertilizers: BJP MLA | | | Early Times Report Jammu Sept 15 The state government should take immediate and effective steps to ensure availability of fertilizers to the farmers of Jammu region as it is the sowing season and there is acute shortage of DAP and urea in the market stated BJP Kissan Morcha State President & MLA from Marh constituency Ch. Sukhnandan. Stressing for making a clear policy over availability of fertilizers round the year, Ch. Sukhnandan said that the poor farmers get their crops destroyed and the concerned agencies never learn from the past, instead they have least concern for the farming community. BJP MLA who conducted tour of Lohari Chak, Saharan, Flora Nagbani, Chowane Chak- Smailpur and Deorey Napu areas falling under his constituency was apprised about shortage of fertilizers. Ch. Sukhnandan, during his tour of these areas was told by the farmers that they are not able to sow seeds of vegetables and in the coming month the wheat sowing season will start but they are looking towards the government helplessly as neither there is DAP nor Urea in open market or in government outlets. he said farmers also mentioned that many times their crops are destroyed by the natural calamities like droughts and heavy rains but the non-seriousness approach of government, the agriculture Department in particular, results into losses of crops. Ch. Sukhnandan also asked the government to direct the Power Development Deptt. (PDD) authorities to supply regular electricity to the farmers so that they can run machines and motors for agricultural purposes.
