| Soz underlines need to protect water bodies in J&K | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Sep 15 Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Saif-ud-Din Soz today underlined the need for protecting water bodies including the world famous Dal Lake, Wular Lake and river Jhelum. "Climate change has become a serious threat to the society affecting environment, terrestrial eco-system and biodiversity", Soz, former union water resources minister said addressing inaugural session of a seminar on "engineering solutions to combat climate change" organised here. He said that degradation of forests, pollution of water bodies and ever increasing consumption of fossil fuels by humans has created an alarming situation for the existence of the living world. Soz asked the engineering fraternity to play pivotal role in neutralising the adverse effects of carbon emission on the climate.
