Army deserter turned interstate thief arrested
Group rivalry behind Amandeep murder: SSP Jammu

In its continue drive against burglars and chain snatchers Jammu Police have arrested another notorious thief in Narwal area today. Claiming 60 % recoveries out of 30 % thefts SSP Jammu Manohar Singh said that police have arrested army deserter turned interstate thief from Narwal area when he was trying to dispose of the stolen iron shuttering plates. In the press conference held in Police Post Narwal SSP Jammu also revealed the reason behind the killing of Amandeep Singh son of Ex MLC Depinder Kour.

The accused identified as Gurbachan Singh alias Sonu son of Baldev Singh resident of Dhera Babbar Reasi was trying to sell iron shuttering plates along with truck when he was arrested. On specific information Incharge police post Narwal Mohd Hilal Azhar, SHO Trikuta Nagar Vijay Choudary under the supervision of SP South Mumtaz Ahmed and SDPO East Sandeep Mehta laid a trap and arrested him. He stole the plates from an under construction tube well site in kalibari Kathua. SSP Jammu said that the accused got selected in the year 2003 in JAK Rifles at Udhampur and completed his basic training from Jabalpur center in July 2004 and got allotted 17 JAK Rifle, C-Company remained in the same center till July 2005. In December 2007 he came on leave and never returned back and started committing thefts in state and out of state. Army took him to Jabalpur center in May 2009 but he managed to escape in June 2009.


Gurbachan committed thefts at Reasi and a case FIR No.50/08 U/S 379/RPC got registered against him . Then he committed another theft of railway line at Katra and a case has been registered against him under case FIR No.70/08 and challaned under sec 512 Crpc . Then he purchased a truck bearing registration no JK02C/6430 only for the purpose of committing thefts. He left his village when two FIR’s were lodged against him and went to punjab and committed thefts of railway line at Chaki Bank Pathankote in 2008 in connivance with a Scrap dealer namely Babla of Jalandhar for which a case FIR No 04/08 has been registered at P/S Chaki pathankot. The subject committed another theft at Jalandhar for which FIR No 30/08 stands registered against the subject at Jalandhar RPF. He was involved in a theft at Amritsar and FIR No 34/08 stands registered against the subject at Amritsar Punjab. All the thefts committed in Punjab were committed in connivance with Babala Kabadia and his labourers. The subject is wanted in case FIR No. 50/08, 75/08 P/S Reasi, 70/08 P/S Katra and in FIR Nos. 30/08 P/S RPF Jalandhar, 34/08 P/S RPF Amritsar and 04/08 P/S RPF Chaki Pathankot. The sustained interrogation of notorious character is on and more arrests are expected.


SSP also narrated the reason behind the Amandeep Singh murder. He said that group rivalry is behind the murder .During interrogation of Royal Singh son of Manjeet Singh who was arrested from Punjab told police that he felt insecure from Amandeep Singh as later was continuously gave him threat to life. He said that Amandeep Singh also fired bullet at him in the Jammu University VC Chamber when the protest was going on but he escaped unhurt. One day Amandeep Singh gave him threatening call and he chalked out plan of his murder and as per plan he sent to Raja son of Nagarmal to his house to take him out while he along with his other two friends Ishuk and Manik was waiting outside house and when Raja brought him out he shot him but bullet missed target and hit the gate but before he could manage to escape Raja pumped bullet into his lower abdomen. Now Raja is in central jail while Royal Singh is in the custody of Gandhi Nagar police station,SSP maintained.
