| Doda, Kishtwar annual plans approved | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Sept 15: Away from the hilly terrain of accident prone districts of Chenab Valley, the government today convened marathon meetings of the District Development Boards of Doda and Kishtwar at the Chief Minister’s resident here in the winter capital and approved annual outlay of Rs 45.09 Crore Rs 43.93 Crore, respectively. Both meetings were chaired by the Chief Minister and attended by the chairpersons and legislators of concerned districts, other ministers and senior officers of administration. Road connectivity and rampant accidents, however, attracted attention of the government and some remedial measures were proposed. The annual plan outlay of Rs.45.09 crore has been approved for Doda district for the year 2009-10 which is a hike of 15 percent on the plan outlay of last financial year. The Board meeting decided to provide Rs.5 crore for completion of ongoing road projects in the district while Rs.2.45 crore was earmarked for disposal of pending land acquisition cases in addition to sanctioning Rs.1.5 crore for setting up trauma hospital at Khellani. Rs.1 crore was also announced for construction of sports stadium at Doda and Rs.70 lakh for land acquisition for Polytechnic College. Based on the demands projected and with an aim to provide better and safe road connectivity in the district, the Chief Minister announced three tunnels which include Sudhmahadev-Marmat tunnel, Sinthan tunnel and Desa-Kapran tunnel. The work on which will be started soon after the feasibility reports are finalized. He said that under the second phase the double laning of Bani-Bhaderwah road and work on Bhaderwah-Chamba road which is expected to be completed at and estimated cost of Rs.73.33 crore will be expedited after completing all codal and technical formalities. Expressing serious concern over frequently occurring accidents, CM said that a comprehensive action plan has been framed with involvement of various concerned agencies and district administration. He said that the time lines and guidelines have been framed for the execution of the action plan. He asked the elected representatives to monitor the execution of the plan and ensure proper implementation and timely corrective measures. He directed the Chairman DDB Doda Mr. Sham Lal Sharma to hold regular meetings with the BRO and executing agencies to review the progress of ongoing works and checkout the bottlenecks if any. Similarly, the annual plan for Kishtwar district was approved at 43.93 crore. Stressing on improving road connectivity to the far-flung pockets of Kishtwar district, Mr. Omar announced Rs. 40 lakh for the improvement of inner roads in Kishtwar town. He directed the District Development Commissioner Kishtwar to expedite the land acquisition process for various development works and announced Rs. 2 crore for land compensation for which the award has been issued. Omar announced Rs. 75 lakh for the upgradation of facilities in the sports sector out of which Rs. 50 lakh will be used for development of stadium at Kishtwar and an initial amount of Rs. 25 lakh was earmarked for construction of stadium at Chatroo. He announced Rs. 7 lakh for land acquisition for setting up hostel facility at Chatroo. Another Rs. 50 lakh will be given for construction of auditorium at Kishtwar, he added.
