| Solar energy panels Vaishno Devi shrine | | | Hyderabad, Sept 16: The Government would set up solar energy panels and other such equipment at important shrines in the country like Tirupathi, Vaishnodevi and Shirdi to promote awareness among people on the benefits of solar energy. Highlighting the importance of renewable energy sources, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah said the installation of the solar energy equipment at famous shrines is aimed at promoting the use of solar energy among the masses. The Government would give one crore rupees to installation of solar energy equipment at all Rajbhavans in the country to promote and increase the use of the unlimited energy from the Sun. There are also plans to provide funds to set up similar equipment at State Secretariats and Legislature buildings. Abdullah was inaugurating a semi-conductor manufacturing facility at the Fab City on the outskirts of Hyderabad. He said a solar policy would be unveiled on Novemnber 14, the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, for promoting solar energy in the country. He, however, did not elaborate the salient features of the policy.
