| Soz., several ministers join OBC Jagriti Manch on Vishwa karma day | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 17 -In connection with the celebrations of Vishwakarma Day, an impressive function was organized by the J&K OBC Jagriti Manch at Muthi today. The Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Mr Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for Revenue, Mr Raman Bhalla, Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Mr. R. S. Chib, Minister of State for Haj and Aquaf and Fisheries, Mr Aijaz Ahmed Khan, President J&K PCC, Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz, Member Parliament, Mr Madan Lal Sharma, MLA, Ms Indu Pawar, former Minister, Mr Mula Ram, senior congress leaders, Mr Dharam Paul Sharma and Mr Shiv Dev Singh, Corporators and members of OBC community were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sham Lal Sharma said that government is committed to uplift all sections of the society and various steps in this direction have been initiated. He appreciated the role of the OBC communities towards the society and said that communities deserve all kind of help so that they can contribute more for strengthening the unity and dignity of the country. On the issue of special reservation in the schedule for the community, the Minister said that issue will be re-examined and efforts will be made to develop a consensus on the issue. He also suggested formation of OBC Welfare Advisory Board which can be a useful forum for resolving the issues confronting the OBC community, he added. Mr Chib, in his address assured the OBC community that promises made by the congress party with them will be fulfilled in letter and spirit. He supported the idea of establishing OBC Welfare Advisory Board for resolving the issues of the community. He said that government will look into their all pending demands afresh and resolve them in phased manner. He asked the members of the community to maintain unity and integrity for the development and progress of the Jammu and Kashmir State. Throwing light on the life and teachings of Lord Vishwakarma, Mr Raman Bhalla asked the people, particularly the OBC community to follow his footsteps and work for the progress of the country. He said that government is well aware of the problems of OBC community and efforts are being made to resolve all their pending demands. He said that government will provide them proper justice and their interests will be watched in every field. Mr Bhalla said that government will make necessary amendments in the existing rules and ensure that only single category certificate is issued instead of two certificates like OBC and OSC which are in vogue at present. He also fully supported the idea of formation of separate Advisory Board for OBC community to solve their problems in more legitimate way. He said that government is also considering various welfare steps for the POK refugees in near future. Prof Soz appealed the people to work for strengthening the congress party at the grassroots level. He said that he is committed to provide justice to all sections of the society. He assured the people that their problems will be resolved in phased manner. He said that matter regarding establishing the OBC welfare board and according special reservation in the schedule will be discussed in appropriate forum and resolved soon. Other issues of the community will be examined by the concerned ministries for appropriate disposal, he added. Mr Aijaz Ahmed Khan and Mr Madan Lal Sharma and Mr Mula Ram also addressed the gathering and expressed their views.
Members of the OBC community including Vaishno Dutt Dogra, Madan Chalotra, Mr Madan lal Kashyap also addressed the gathering and projected various demands pertaining to the OBC communities.
