| PM's package should differ from KP's return to valley: PK | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sep 17 : Terming the present situation in Kashmir worst than that of the early 90s, the Panun Kashmir, an amalgam of various Kashmir Pandit bodies, today said the Prime Minister's package should differ from Pandit's return to Kashmir as the situation was not conducive for them to return to their homeland. ‘’Government, by announcing the package for the Kashmiri community has once again hurt the sentiments as present situation does not allow them to return to the valley,’’ Dr Ajay Chrungoo, Chairman, Panun Kashmir Jammu told reporters at a press conference here this afternoon. Dr Chrungoo said the Government should give package to the Kashmiri youths at their respective places and the issue of their return to the Valley should be discussed separately. ‘’Prime Minister has himself, in a recent statement, expressed concern over rising infiltration in J&K from across the border, then how is it possible for the Pandits to return back to Kashmir? ’’ Dr Chrungoo added. He, however, said the Government was trivializing the genocide issue and Panun Kashmir was not interested to be a part of the Apex Committee constituted yesterday by the state government.
Meanwhile, president Kashmir Samiti Delhi, Dr L N Dhar said Kashmiri Hindus had time and again emphasized upon the Government that the displacement of Pandits had not been a phenomenon of voluntary migration or an outcome of natural disaster. ‘’We are of the firm view that the return policy of the successive governments in Jammu and Kashmir, has only sought to achieve intimidation and attrition against the displaced Hindus,'' Dr Dhar added. He further said the displacement of Kashmiri Hindus from the valley had been caused by a genocidal war unleashed by the Islamic fundamentalist forces. ‘’The policy of the Government primarily smacks of enacting a drama of return by absolving itself of the responsibility to address the real issues behind the genocide of the Hindus,’’ added the Samiti president.
