State pensioners hold meet, discuss problems

Jammu, Sep 17: The J&K state pensioners welfare forum in a meeting held at Shalimar Park, Katra to highlighted the problem being faced by the pensioners.
An organizing committee of 21 members of retired government employees of Katra city and its surrounding unanimously elected Sham Prasad Kesar as chairman/ advisor, Puran Chand as president, Dr. Chatroo Ram as secretary, and Om Prakash Wazir as treasurer along with seventeen committee members. The committee members in the meeting demanded release of pension arrears w.e.f. 1-1-2006 to June 30, 2009. 50% of minimum pay band and applicable grade pay in revised pay band, release arrears of 6% DA from January 2009 to June 30, 2009, enhancement of medical allowance, and additional quantum of pension after attaining the age of 80, 90, 95 and 100 years. The committee also decided to participate in the district level and regional level programmers of the pensioners at Reasi and Jammu.
