15 cattle perish due to non availability of water in Ramban

Jammu, Sept 17- Expressing serious concern over the death of more than 15 cattle due to non-availability of drinking water at Sildhar and Dundrath panchayats of Ramban district and BJP general secretary Bali Bhagat has demanded cash compensation to the farmers who suffered the loss.
After extensive tour of Ramban and Batote area the state, Bhagat said that due to long dry spell and drought condition, most of the water sources, springs and nallahs have dried up as a result of which the people have to cover long distances to fetch drinking water. He said that if the timely measures are not taken on war footing the livestock in the area is bound to perish for want of drinking water and fodder. He demanded that free fodder banks and provision of piped water from whatever source is possible be made at once to address this serious situation.
Bali Bhagat pleaded for immediate introducing of cattle and crop insurance to offset losses caused to standing crops and live stock due to natural calamities like the present drought.
