| Announce package for unemployed youth on Eid, PDP demands | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Sept 17- ‘If the government is really keen in providing some sort of package to the unemployed educated youth of the state, it should announce it forthwith on the eve of the most revered and gracious occasion of Eid-ul- Fitr”. This was stated by the PDP youth President Bashir Assad while addressing youth workers here today He said thousands of unemployed and semi employed youth of state could not celebrate Eid for want of bread and butter, the government should rise to the occasion and announce special employment package including monthly stipend to unemployed educated youth without waiting for December 5 to come. Assad said December 5 has no significance if seen from a layman’s perspective and what matters for an unemployed the most is that he should be able to share and celebrate the joy of Eid-ul- Fitr and it was obligatory for the government to provide him means of livelihood without any further delay. ‘We cannot simply live on mere assurances and wait till December 5 as it was not the first assurance which this government has made to the people, since it came into power’, he added. Assad said it is not the annual plan which could eradicate the unemployment and poverty but it is proper utilization of our resources which have been sold to the central government against the interest of the people of the state and which if renegotiated with centre could make the state self reliant. ‘We do not believe in gimmicks and giving hype to the things but we are really concerned about the future of our people which has to be secured’, he remarked. Among others the meeting was also attended by Youth General Secretary Showkat Gayoor, Abdul Majid, Mohammed Yasir Reshi and Bashir Ahmad Mir.
