Panthers welcome SC directive on delimitation

Jammu, Sept 18-Welcoming the decision of the Supreme Court for issuing notice in the petition filed by the JKNPP, demanding constitution of Delimitation Commission in Jammu and Kashmir, JKNPP State president and MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia announced to continue its struggle on the issue both in public and in the Courts.
Talking to media persons here today, Mankotia said that the petition was filed by party Chairman Prof Bhim Singh in the state High Court and the Supreme Court on the Delimitation of Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies in the state, for which NPP has been consistently fighting. He demanded equal representation in the Assembly for the people of Jammu Region who despite having parity in population, have been given nine lesser MLAs in the Assembly as compared to Kashmir Region.
He announced that JKNPP will continue its struggle on the issue both in public and in the Courts. Mankotia also asked the government to declare entire Jammu Province as drought affected and provide relief to the farmers.
Criticizing the Public Service Commission for its decision to hold exams and interviews of candidates of both the regions in Srinagar, JKNPP president asked the PSC to hold the exams and interviews region-wise at Srinagar and Jammu respectively.
He highlighted the role of JKNPP MLAs in the recently concluded session of Assembly. The party effectively raised the issue of opening of Central University in Jammu and other issues relating to discrimination with Jammu Province, besides the issues of Daily Wages, unemployed youth, employees, he added.
Mankotia was also joined by Hari Chand Jhalmeria General Secretary, Bansi Lal Sharma Political Advisor to JKNPP and Raghubir Singh Billowria District General Secretary in the press conference. In the meanwhile, the JKNPP has congratulated the people of the state on Navratras and Eid.
