| Rs. 337 cr two Textile Parks yet to come up | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 18: Despite lapse of over a year the proposed two textile parks being set up at Ghatti and Govindsar in Kathua district are yet to be completed A senior functionary of SIDCO today said that 240 kanals of land had been acquired for these two parks being developed at an investment of Rs.337 crores. He said, besides these two major units about 56 small units are expected to come up in the two parks. These units will be engaged in spinning, weaving, processing, garmenting and ancillary activities. Once these units were set up they will ensure jobs for 4,000 youths and another 4,000 people are likely to get indirect employment. He said that despite a number of Central Government incentives for those setting up units in the textile parks "we have not yet seen entrepreneurs willing to install their units in these parks." He said that SIDCO planned to make people in and outside the state aware of the benefits of the two parks through newspaper advertisements after the parks were fully ready for setting up units. The Government has decided to set up Silk cum Textile Park at Zakoora in north of Srinagar. Besides this funds have been approved for setting up two clusters of cricket bat units and wood based industry at Bagh-i-Ali Mardan in Srinagar and Sangam in Anantnag district, he added.
