| Mustafa Kamal’s on Art 370 reflect frustration: BJP | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 18 : Terming the recent remarks of Dr Mustafa Kamal, the National Conference MLA referring to Accession and Article 370, as mischievous and misleading, BJP State President & MLA Jammu East Ashok Khajuria said that the statement reflects frustration and anger for his non inclusion in the cabinet by his nephew Omar Abdullah.
In his statement Khajuria advised Dr Mustafa Kamal to read the history and refresh his memory before making statements which are not based on facts.
Ashok Khajuria satirically stated that BJP is of the view that Dr. Mustafa Kamal is unaware about the fact that the Instrument of Accession was signed by Maharaja Hari Singh and it was not conditional.
‘Like other princely states, the Instrument of Accession was signed and merger/accession is complete in all respects. Infact, the resolution of Autonomy was rightly turned down by BJP-led NDA government in national interest and that has caused frustration in the minds of separatists and fundamentalists while Article 370 is the outcome of adamant and revengeful attitude of Pt. Jawarhar Lal Nehru towards Maharaja Hari Singh, he stated. Discussion about Sheikh Abdullah accepting or rejecting accession is meaningless as he was having no locus standi as it was only Maharaja to decide, he reminded.
Ashok Khajuria corrected Mustafa Kamaal that before Sheikh Mohd Abdullah took over the reins of the governance of the state in 1975, he had reviewed all the Central Acts and Laws that had been extended to the state of Jammu and Kashmir after 1953 through a committee of legal experts headed by his Lieutenant Late Mirza Afzal Beig and had realized that all the central laws extended to the state were essential and needed for a modern, progressive and scientific society.
Khajuria further reminded Mustafa Kamal that Instrument of Accession that Late Maharaja Hari Singh of the state had signed was no way different from the those signed by other princely states numbering more than five hundreds and it was after couple of years that the Article-370 was very reluctantly incorporated in the Indian constitution by constituent assembly of India and made temporary in its operation.
Ashok Khajuria asked Dr. Mustafa Kamaal as to what he was doing when he was cabinet Minister of Health in the ministry of Dr Farooq Abdullah in this respect. Khajuria observed that it has been the hallmark of Sheikh family to talk of autonomy and indulge in divisive politics when out of chair and said that the state was not their private estate. Khajuria appealed the government to prosecute Dr. Mustafa Kamaal by registering a case of sedition against him.
The BJP Chief said that Congress party, especially MLAs and Ministers hailing from Jammu, should make clear their stand on the seditious observations made by Dr. Mustafa Kamaal. He further said that BJP will not take such utterances lying down and shall stand like a rock against such spliting talks.
