| Court rejects bail of deceased’s wife facing trial in abetment to suicide case | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept19- Special Mobile Magistrate Electricity Court Jammu MK Sharma today rejected the bail application of 55 year Nirmal Kour widow of deceased Manjeet Singh who along with others facing trial in abetment to suicide case. After hearing both the sides the Special Mobile Magistrate observed that the wives are young men’s mistresses, companion of the middle aged and nurses of the old. However, the facts of instant case are antitheses of this old proposition. The petitioner, who should have been nurse of her husband at this age, is alleged to have forced her companion to commit suicide. The offence u/s 306 RPC is serious offence punishable with imprisonment for 10 years and fine. The witnesses of the prosecution are also the people of locality whom the accused can win over if released on bail. The Court, in the larger interest of the society, rejected the bail application of the petitioner. On August 20, 2007 one Manjeet Singh son of Amar Singh resident of Chak Chora died under mysterious circumstances at GMC Jammu. Proceeding u/s 174 Cr PC commenced in the registration of FIR u/s 306 RPC. It was reported that the petitioner Nirmal Kour is widow of the deceased Manjeet Singh and accused Harpal Singh is son of the deceased, accused Surinder Singh is the brother in law of the deceased, the accused persons used to harass the deceased. Fed up with the regular beating the deceased got so frustrated and committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance. The accused Nirmal Kour was arrested by the police on September 12, 2009 and filed application for release on bail. JNF
