| BSNL Chief meets Governor | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, SEPT 19: The Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Llimited (BSNL), Mr. Kuldip Goyal called on the Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, here last evening and discussed with him the measures being taken for improving landline and mobile phone services and internet connectivity in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Governor emphasized the need for optimally benefiting from the continuing technological advancements in the field of telecommunications to provide dependable and the most advanced communication connectivity, particularly in the remote areas of the State. He stressed the crucial importance of telecommunication facilities for the economic growth of J&K which has remote and high altitude areas and suffering from varied locational disadvantages.
The Chairman and Managing Director BSNL informed the Governor, about the problems and delays being faced by his organization in expanding and upgrading the telecommunication services in J&K and the steps so far taken to address these difficulties. The Governor advised the CMD to also call on the State authorities, particularly the Chief Secretary and discuss BSNL’s difficulties.
The Governor had earlier taken up this matter with the Union Minister for Communications and IT, Mr. A. Raja, after a number of deputations of people from various parts of the State had met the Governor and brought to his notice the difficulties being faced by them. The Governor had urged the Union Minister for Communications to depute the CMD, BSNL to Srinagar to review the BSNL’s operations in the State and take the required measures to facilitate the people.
The Principal Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Raj Kumar Goyal, was present on the occasion.
