| Murder over land dispute at Shopian | | Woman among 6 accused held | |
Srinagar, September 30: Following the murder of a civilian during a dispute over a patch of land at Shopian, police dramatically arrested six accused persons including a woman. Reports reaching Srinagar indicate that one Gh Mohi-ud-Din Ganaie S/O Gul Mohd was engaged in a land dispute with his relations. The dispute land having walnut tress was fenced by the relations of Gh Mohi-ud-Din who tried to remove the fencing few days back. However relations of Gh Mohi-ud-Din resisted during which warring parties got engaged into a fierce battle. While flexing muscles, Gh Mohi-ud-Din was over powered and attacked with sharp edged weapons. Consequently Gh Mohi-ud-Din was critically injured and shifted to SKIMS Soura where he succumbed to injuries. A case under FIR No:217/2006 was registered at P/S Shopian and weapons used in the attack were seized. The six accused including a woman went missing, but sleuths of police conducted raids and arrested them. Those arrested are Sara Bano W/O Ab Rashid Ganaie, Bashir Ahmed Ganaie S/O Ab Samad and his brother Manzoor Ahmed Ganaie, Nazir Ahmed Ganaie S/O Gh Qadir, Naseer Ahmed Ganaie S/O Bashir Ahmed and Ab Rashid Ganaie S/O Bashir Ahmed . They have been lodged in police lock up. |
