| This Eid , no Wazwaan at TRC | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 20- Connoisseurs of food, who frequently visit exquisitely decorated Wazwan restaurant housed in Tourist Reception Centre building on the occasion of Eid and otherwise, are going to miss their plateful of ‘wazwan’ recipes due to ongoing renovation work inside the building. The wazwan was closed down by the authorities recently soon after the portion of the building developed cracks at several places raising question marks over the quality of construction work. Official sources say more than Rs1.5 crore was spent on the renovation work of the building when portion of the old building was extended and more space was created inside the existing wazwan to accommodate more visitors. Though the Tourism Department has locked gates of wazwan and shifted the same to the vegetarian restaurant but the frequent rush of visitors and uncomfortable setting is making it difficult for the foodies to adjust to the taste and prefer staying out. Rehman Malik, a regular visitor to Wazwan restaurant at TRC said, " for last couple of years I am visiting Wazwan with my family on Eid but this year I had to stay out as the wazwan has been closed down due to renovation works". On the other hand several employees of Tourism Department blame the poor quality of construction work carried out by the contractor as the main reason behind closing down of wazwan. Look when the old building is standing tall how it is possible a new building constructed few years ago has developed cracks. Another regular visitor to TRC, Irfan said, the engineers had not taken due care of the alignment which is the main reason the building has developed several cracks and is unsafe now. The Tourism authorities who were running their office from the same building have also vacated the building and have also stopped holding conferences and meetings at the spacious hall on the first floor of the building pending repair work
