| BJP activists take out protest rally | | Khajuria takes Govt. to task for its appeasement policy | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 22- Hundreds of BJP activists and local residents of different villages of Khour Block of Akhnoor Tehsil, led by the BJP State President Ashok Khajuria, today took out a massive rally from Maheshpura Chowk to protest against the indifferent attitude of the local administration towards the poor and needy people. The rally after passing through the main bazars of Jammu city, culminated outside the office of Divisional Commissioner, where a protest demonstration was held. They were raising slogans against the Chief Engineers of Irrigation & Flood Control, PHE and PDD and also the Block Development Officer of Khour for their total negligence over their repeated requests and representations regarding redressal of their genuine problems. In a memorandum the protestors demanded immediate removal of the Khour BDO and initiating an inquiry to look into the bungling in distribution of financial aid under Indira Awas Yojana, favoritism to influential persons in matters regarding distribution of sewing machines and benefits under below poverty line (BPL) scheme. Later, a 12-member delegation headed by Ashok Khajuria and comprising Shamsher Singh Manhas, Ramesh Arora, Chaman Lal Kanathia, Mangat Singh Manhas, Rajinder Singh, Shamsher Singh, Chuni Lal, Balwant Raj Bhagat, Kuldeep Singh, Rattan Singh and Rasal Singh called on the Divisional Commissioner and submitted a memorandum containing details of their grievances. Khajuria while expressing his grave concern over the step-motherly treatment meted out to the supporters of non- Congress, non-NC people, said that the government should treat all the individuals equally. He said various schemes launched by the Central as well as the state government will not bore fruits till they are implemented honestly and with commitment. He said the majority of the people of Khour are leading miserable lives due to the pick and choose and appeasement policies by the government to benefit a handful of blue-eyed persons who have links with the political leaders of Congress in particular. BJP Chief warned of massive protests in the coming days if the administration fails to take note of the genuine grievances of the poor people of Khour block. He, on this occasion, extended his party’s unstinted support to the suffering people.
