| Harshdev castigates R&B for its culpable negligence | | | Early Times report JAMMU, Sept 22- Former Minister and senior JKNPP leader Harsh Dev Singh has castigated the R&B Department Udhampur for culpable negligence and contemptible apathy shown in the execution of planned works pertaining to the District with particular reference to Ramnagar Constituency. Singh who concluded his two-day tour of Ramnagar constituency interacted with several deputations from various villages who complained of poor functioning of the Department and negligible progress registered on the ground with regard to the construction of roads and bridges. Singh lamented that field visits by him also indicated that majority of the planned works of even the previous year pertaining to state and district sector of R&B had not been put to tenders and no execution of work was visible on the ground. He further regretted that not a single penny, out of the funds released for current year, had been spent by the department thereby depriving the people of the benefits of development. Singh further regretted that even the minor damages caused to the roads during the last rainy season had not been attended to and the department had utterly failed to restore the said roads for traffic. Making particular mention of Dalsar-Badotu road; Kot Pattian-Badotu road; Thaplal-Tagan road and Sunetar-Dhanu road, Singh said that the said roads had been rendered un-trafficable in the last rainy season but the department was sleeping over the matter till date thereby providing the most glaring example of red tape, criminal negligence and lack of accountability. Singh further questioned the failure of the R&B department Udhampur in ensuring the construction of Primary Health Centres, sub centres, High and Higher Secondary Schools for which funds had been released to it atleast three years back. He warned the department to wake up from its slumber, shed off the old unhealthy practices and ensure immediate opening of roads and completion of planned schemes failing which the general public would be forced to gherao their offices and seek their resignations.
