Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 22- Prof Bhim Singh Chairman JKNPP has expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation being developed due to the non governance and failure of the government to address the burning problems of the employees
Addressing media persons here today, Prof Singh demanded immediate redressal of the problems of the employees, dismissal of the tainted ministers and declaration of all the ten Districts of Jammu and drought hit areas so that immediate action is taken by the Centre to save the people particularly in the hill and Kandi areas from starvation and death.
He warned that the Panthers Party shall take the matter to the streets by October 15 if immediate action is not taken by the government to redress their grievances.
He said that 26,000 SPOs (Special Police Officers) who were appointed 10 years back have not been regularized though they are working round the clock fighting against the terrorists. They are paid just Rs.100 a day. About 700 SPOs who died while fighting against the terrorists have not been paid any compensation what other policemen are paid for same sacrifice. He demanded immediate regularization of all the SPOs in the state. He also referred to the problem of 250 assistants who were duly appointed in the Agricultural University, Jammu and later dismissed even without notice causing grave concern to the poor employees and their families. Thousands of State Road Transport (SRT) employees have been agitating on the roads for the past one year seeking payment of their salaries and allowances. The entire State Road Transport is in shambles. Home Guard employees have been agitating for the past three years to be treated at par with the Home Guard employees in other states of the country. Each Home Guard employee is paid less than Rs.600 a month for working round the clock.
He alleged that the police system has totally collapsed in the state and in this connection referred to the tragic incidents in Shopian, Baramullah and Jammu where innocent people were killed and the police failed to discharge their duties because of intervention by the ruling parties in the state. He said that infiltration is beyond the control of the state administration and most of the infiltration is encouraged by the State machinery as was done in the nineties.
JKNPP Chief urged Prime Minister to provide relief package for the rehabilitation of Jammu Migrants also who have not been even provided relief at par with Kashmiri Migrants till today in spite of the Judgment of the Supreme Court in 2006.
He said that four sitting ministers in the government have been charged by the Accountability Commission and the Vigilance Organization yet they continue to be the ministers.
