| LPG distributor penalized | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 22 (INFO)- Acting on the telephonic complaint of LPG consumers, the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology, Jammu, Mr. V. S. Sambyal inspected the premises of LPG extension counter at Kullian, R.S. Pura.
During the inspection the Assistant Controller found Harnam Singh issuing bills of Gulmohar Gas Green Belt, Gandhi Nagar to the consumers and the LPG cylinders were issued from the vehicle no. JK02H 4825 bring driven by the driver Om Prakash and delivery boy Kush.
The Assistant Controller got some of the cylinders checked in a laboratory and verified the weight of the cylinders by electronic weighing scale. During the course of weight verification weight of 13 cylinders ere found to be less by 2 kg to 400 g than the prescribed weight.
All the cylinders were then immediately seized and taken into custody for initiating legal proceedings under the J&K Weights and Measures (Enf.) Act, 1997.
The Assistant Controller compounded the case for Rs.40,000 and directed the distributor to ensure correct weighing of the cylinders in future for the benefit of consumers on electronic weighing scale.
Replacement of the underweight cylinders from the I.O.C bottling plant was also ordered.
