Students visit Bhimgarh Fort get glimpse of past

REASI, SEPTEMBER 23,- As part of the Navratra Festival organised by the District Administration Reasi for the first time, today organized a rally of over 1000 students drawn from various government and private educational institutions of Reasi and its surrounding. The rally was flagged off by the Chief Education Officer, Reasi from District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) Reasi early this morning.

During the rally, the students presented various cultural programmes like Dandia, devotional songs and other programmes on eradication of social evils from the society.

The students were also exposed to ancient monuments like Bhimgarh Fort constructed way back on commanding heights in Reasi town under heritage walk programme by the district administration. The historians briefed the children about the history and other important aspects of the Fort. Students were seen taking keen interest in the carvings on the stone of the fort.

The students of heritage walk were also made aware about the different locations of the fort which were used for keeping arms and ammunition. During the walk, the officers of the Education Department asked the students to preserve the old heritage for the coming generation. They also gave detailed history of other monuments like Vijaypur Fort, Batal Gala Fort near Salal and Maa Kali temple.

Next event in the series of programmes being organized in Reasi is the Devotional Song Competition which shall be organized on September 25 at Ram Lila ground Reasi.
