| 4500 prizes to be won at police test | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, September 23: Arrangements for day-long Police-Public Mela being held at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar on October 4, were reviewed and finalized at a high level meeting chaired by the Director General of Police (DGP),Mr. Kuldeep Khoda here today. The Mela being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association (JKPWWA), will be inaugurated at 10 a.m. and conclude at 4 P.M. the same day.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Khoda disclosed that more than 40 stalls representing various police establishments, government departments and many voluntary organizations from all over the State are participating in this grand event. He said that the stall holders will display their products for exhibition as well as sale purposes for the general public on reasonable rates during the day-long Mela.
It was decided in the meeting that the raffle draw will take place at 4 p.m. sharp on the same day at the Mela venue in presence of the public. The raffle draw tickets would be available for sale purposes up to the evening of September 26 at various prominent places in Srinagar, including TRC, Polo Ground, Exhibition Ground, Civil Secretariat and Bakshi Stadium. Similarly, in Jammu, the tickets will be available at Police Departmental Store, Gulshan Ground and other locations in the city besides at prominent places across the State.
The DGP issued instructions for setting up of special raffle draw ticket sale counters for the public at the venue of the Mela at Bakshi Stadium on Mela day, which will remain open up to 2 p.m. He asked the concerned officers to ensure that sale proceeds of the raffle draw tickets are deposited with the incharge of respective units by the evening of 26th September positively.
He asked the officers heading the different committees to work in coordination to make the event a grand success. He stated that this year the JKPWWA has decided to enhance the number of prizes up to 4500, which include first prize 4 Wagon-R Cars, 2nd prize 4 Alto Cars, 3rd prize 4 Hero Honda Splendor (Motor Cycles), 4th prize 4 Laptop Computers, 5th prize 4 Scooties, 6th prize 4 LCD TVs, 7th prize 4 Handi Cam Video Cameras, 8th prize 4 ACs. 08 ton, 9th prize 4 Washing Machines, 10th prize 4 Nokia Mobile Phones, 11th prize 4 Sports Bikes, 12th prize 4 Gas Stoves, 13th prize 4 LG Mobile Phones, 14th prize 4 Dinner Sets. 15th prize 4 Sandwich Makers, 16th Prize 40 Cash prizes of Rs. 1000, 17th prize 400 cash prizes of Rs. 500 and 18th prize 4000 cash prizes of Rs. 100.
The DGP also took a detailed review of the arrangements made for boarding and lodging of the stall holders, traffic, security, drinking water and other arrangements. Earlier, the AIG (Welfare) Mr. Sameer Rekhi apprised the meeting about the various arrangements made for the event.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Director General of Police (CID) Mr, K. Rajendra Kumar, IGPs, Mr. Ram Lubhaya, Mr. Gopal Reddy, Mr. S.M. Sahai, Mr. Mohammad Amin Shah, Dr. B. Srinivas and Mr. Farooq Ahmed, DIGs Mr. H. K. Lohia, Mr. Rauf -ul-Hassan, Mr. Alok Puri, Mr. A. K. Bali, AIG (P) Mr. N. D. Wani and SSP, Srinagar, Mr. Javaid Riyaz.
