SRTC employees threatens to intensify stir
9/23/2009 9:36:31 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 23- Angry employees of State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) who are on strike for the last 29 days on Wednesday organized protest demonstration at general bus stand and stopped movement of interstate buses to highlight their demands while demanding early release of salaries pending for last five months.
Frustrated with the poor response of the state government, the SRTC employees took out a march from SRTC office and reached Jammu bus stand where they blocked movement of interstate buses for some time.
The angry employees were seen shouting slogans demanding release of salaries.
One of the employees’ leaders Paramjeet Singh said that if the state government would continue to ignore their silent pleas the SRTC employees would be left with no other option but to resort to violent means to extract their share of salaries from the state.
"We are suffering for past five months but the state government has not bothered to resolve our long pending demand of regular payment of salaries and release of 6th pay commission benefits", agitated employees said.
