| CM constitutes panel on Polytechnique Colleges | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, September 23 - Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah has constituted a high powered Committee to establish 18 Poly Technique Colleges in different districts of the State which have been approved by Government of India involving an expenditure of Rs 210 crore. The Chief Minister today gave approval to Project Implementation Unit (PIU) which will be headed by Secretary Technical Education and its members will be Director Technical Education, Chief Engineer R&B and other executing officers of different executing agencies. The committee will ensure that execution of work is done at high standard which will match with Poly Technique Colleges of high repute. Rs 36 crore have already been released by Government of India in phase I. The Chief Minister will be personally monitoring the progress for establishing these 18 colleges. This will be a landmark in the history of professional education in J&K state. There is no precedence in the past when at a time such number of professional colleges have been established in the State. These colleges have capacities to enroll thousand of students who earlier were going outside the state to peruse professional education. The Chief Minister has taken personal initiatives for getting these colleges approved and for launching PIU for the same.
