| Two women commit suicide | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sep 23: Two women committed suicide in the Kashmir valley, where the trend of taking extreme steps continues despite the Muslim ulmas issuing a fatwa and social, religious and NGOs expressing concern over it. Official sources said here today that one Suriya Jabeen hanged herself in her Muqam Sahib Peer Sopore in Baramulla district. However, other family members immediately took her to hospital where she was declared brought dead. Police have registered a case and initiated proceedings, they said. Another woman Sameera Begum consumed some poisonous substance in her Zaloora, Sopore, house. She was shifted to hospital where she died. However, it was not immediately clear why they committed suicide, the sources said.
