Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 24- Expressing satisfaction over the unanimity of Kashmiri Pandit leaders in the Apex Committee meeting here on Wednesday, President of All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) Moti Kaul said that the KP leaders have put Government to test by demanding immediate implementation of issues like employment, passing of the Hindu Shrines and Temple Bill and the enhancement of cash relief to Rs.10000.
Addressing media persons here today Kaul welcomed the initiative of the Government to discuss the issues relating to the displaced Kashmiri Pandits living in apathetic conditions for the last two decades. However, he showed his displeasure for not inviting some prominent KP leaders, thinkers and camp representatives particularly who are sitting on mass dharna.
AIKS leader also expressed his apprehensions and doubts as during the last two decades the successive governments failed in their commitments as far as the problems of Kashmiri Pandits are concerned. He in his deliberations in the meeting informed that eight years ago, Koul committee report on rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits was made but was not considered at all by the Government. At that time it had recommended Rs 2500 crores, while as now, under P.M’s Relief and Rehabilitation package it is just Rs 1600 crore which too is moving on snails pace as during the last one and a half year it has already made any progress.
As far as the Hindu Shrines and Temple Bill is concerned Kaul told in clear words that it seems there are some vested interests who create hurdles the passing of the Bill otherwise there is no reason to delay it. Kaul also informed that the Parliament committee recommendations were totally ignored.
Kaul and all other KP leaders urged the Government to declare time bound employment policy and demanded special age relaxation for those qualified persons who got over aged during these years of exile besides immediate release of CCA and HRA in favour of migrant employees.
Though the meeting was held in positive atmosphere and the representatives of the Government including the Minister appreciated the problems and demands of the KP leaders but they failed to give any clear cut commitment and time frame for its fulfillment.
Dr. Usha Ticku Co-Convenor Women Wing AIKS and Virender Kuchroo Secretary AIKS also addressed the pressmen.
