| Various colleges celebrates NSS day | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 24: To celebrate the National Services Scheme (NSS) day various colleges in the district organized the function and acquainted he students about the importance of the day. The chief guests on the occasion gave lecturers on aims and objectives of NSS and role of NSS volunteers in personality development of youth. NSS units of Government College for Women Parade organized a function which was presided by principal and chairman NSS advisory committee Dr. Savitri Sharma. Speaking on the occasion principal Dr Sharma spoke about the day and congratulated the NSS programme officer and volunteers on the day. A symposium was also organized. The function among was attended by Prof Anju Bala, Prof Meenu Mahajan, Prof Chander Shekhar, Prof Ram Singh, Heena Malhotra compared the proceedings. Trikuta Degree College at Nardni Raipur Bantalab organized a one day workshop on volunteerism and teamwork. Prof Kuldeep Singh, programme officer on the occasion delivered a lecture to acquaint the NSS volunteers about their duties and responsibilities. Chairman of the college Dr. RL Sharma urged upon the volunteers to take maximum benefit while working for NSS. Principal of college Dr Gayatri Gupta urged upon the NSS volunteers to take up the social issues like environment drugs, HIV etc and spread awareness in the community. Others who also spoke were Prof Harveen Singh, Prof Shamsher Singh and Prof Vineet Dubey. NSS volunteers of MAM College also celebrated the day. Speaking on the occasion principal of college Dr. MS Baloria highlighted the role of NSS volunteers in the service of society. He impressed upon the volunteers to work with zeal and zest in creating awareness about various social evils in the society. Welcoming the chief guest and other dignitaries present on the occasion, Prof. Hans Raj, NSS programme officer gave a detailed account of NSS activities going on in the college. Speaking on the occasion in the NSS volunteers discussed the aims and objectives of NSS and role of NSS in the personality development of youth. A prize distribution function was also held on the occasion and the prizes were distributed amongst the NSS volunteers for different activities held by the NSS unit during the session 2008-09. Prof Rajesh Kumar Gupta NSS Programme Officer presented vote of thanks.
