Jaswant Manhas offers latest collection to Urdu readers

Jammu, Sept 24: “Yaaden” a collection of Urdu short stories written by Jaswant Manhas, an eminent fiction writer of Jammu and Kashmir, was released at a function organized by Maikash Kashmiri literary society (MKLS) here today.
Minister for Revenue and Relief, who was the chief guest on the occasion congratulated Manhas for publishing the Urdu short stories in a book form for common public. He said that Urdu is not only a language, this is the symbol for our composite culture and this language united the human beings of different caste, colour and creeds. He further said that Urdu is the official language of J&K state and present government is committed for the development and upliftment of this languages. He also congratulated Maikash Society for organizing the function.
Professor Qudoos Javeed, know critic in his presidential address said Jaswant Manhas is a prominent Urdu writer and “Yadeen” is really an appreciable piece of Urdu fiction. Qudoos said that it is the duty of writers and poets of depict the actual picture of society in their creative work. He further said that some stories of book are very sensational and shows real face of the society.
MLA Ashwani Sharma appreciated the author and said this is the real work what a writer is supposed to perform in his literary life. He suggested inclusion of this book is the list of government libraries for masses. He said that all stories of this book are nearest to our life and all characters of these stories actually exist in our day-to-day life.
In their comprehensive papers Khursheed Kazmi and Khalid Hussain hailed the efforts of Manhas and explained some important stories in the light of subject, technique and treatment. Youssuf Nazim, Mohd Ayub Waqif, Dr HS Tasawwur, Shahbaz Rajourvi ad Professor Mohinder Lal Parwana, Professor Zahur-Ud-din, Aseer Kishtwari, Professor Shahab Inayat Malik and Anees Azmi also recognized the work done by Manhas. Earlier Amin Banjara, President Maikash Kashmiri Literary Society welcomed the guests and presented a detailed introduction on the life and work of Jaswant Manhas. Banjara termed the “Yadeen” the third book of Jaswant Manhas, a remarkable work and appealed the readers to read and highlight the book at their level.
